[His fingers squeeze her hand.]

We're lucky to have you.

[She squeezes his hand back, reaching with her other hand to stroke his hair. It seems to calm him, so she sees no reason to not do it whenever she has the opportunity.]

I only wish I could do more.

[It does calm him. He can't imagine any better feeling than her slender fingers in his hair, and his eyes close once again.]

You do more than enough. Today alone...

[It's too bad that he likes it so much, because she's stopping to press her finger to his lips to stop him from continuing.]

Stop. I don't want you to thank me for this, Cullen. If my being here helps you I'm glad and I'm more than happy to be here any time you need me, but you've got to stop acting like Andraste sent me to feed you soup.

[If he felt better, he might crack a joke. But as it is, he just moves her hand so that it's resting against his cheek.]

[That seems to be the right reply in any case, because it has her smiling softly and leaning in to kiss his forehead.]

[He sighs at the touch, arms reaching out to pull her near.]

[She had been trying to give him space just in case he reacted badly to the broth, but how can she keep that up when he's reaching for her like that? She lets him pull her in, settling in beside him comfortably.]

You must be feeling better.

With you here. [He nestles his face against her, arm loosely draped over her. She's the perfect temperature.]

[She laughs softly, giving him a gentle tug so he's more securely against her. She wouldn't have ever expected this side of Cullen, affectionate to the point of nearly smothering, but in a way she certainly doesn't mind.]

I'll stay until you've fallen asleep, then. After you have a bit more to eat.

One day we'll spend a night together under better circumstances.

[The words are murmured against her clothing.]

[And that is a surprising thing to hear, all things considered. If he were up to it she might tease him for saying something so suggestive, might prod him a little to find out exactly what he meant, but to do it now seems unfair. So instead, she goes back to gently sliding her fingers through his hair.]

It's not like I hated the last time, you know.

Mm. It was nice. [Aside from the nightmares that caused it, of course. But he's at peace next to her, her smaller body against his, yet so much stronger than he could ever be.]

[She shifts a little, getting her other arm around him so she can rub her hand soothingly up and down his back.]

I do miss all of us living in the same space. It made things so much easier.

I'd never imagined anything like this would be my life. [Space. Cuddling against the Inquisitor. Practically adopting a little girl.]

[That's definitely a sentiment she shares.]

It is strange, isn't it? Do you think you'll ever settle into it?

She is. I feel even more at home with her here.

[And then, in a very rare show of vulnerability for the Inquisitor, Jove smiles sadly and leans her head against Cullen's.]

I just wished she remembered me.

[Cullen's hand is a little clammy, honestly, and not exactly steady yet, but he manages to brush his fingers along her jawline.]

She'll warm up to you, as she did before. I don't doubt that at all.

[The state of his doesn't matter in the slightest, not when his touch is meant to make her feel better.]

This just feels different than Solas and Cole not knowing me. Cassandra was with me from the very start, and I...

[But she trails off, because Cullen's hand is shaking and this is hardly the time to worry about her own feelings. Cassandra will come around in time because that's the kind of person she is, there's no point in worrying over it when her focus is better put to making sure Cullen is on his way to feeling better.]

Well, I suppose I'm just impatient. [She covers his hand with hers, squeezing it lightly as she gives him a smile.] Now let me up so you can have more broth.

[This is the most comfortable he's been in days, but he reluctantly lets her go, eyes entirely on her.]

It'll be all right.
