[She says that, but she's also struggling not to laugh. That smug face is far too appealing to be at all bent out of shape for any of this.]

[She slides her hand from under his so she can reach up to touch his chin.]

Here I am. There's only a handful of people who even know my titles or what this does.

[Now she has both her hands to herself, one rubbing her thumb against the mark in her palm as she looks down at it. She'd used it in public, where anyone could see the rift she made and closed. A dumb move, perhaps, but necessary.

And now that she has her hands back, it's easier to remember the reason she even invited him in the first place. Up one wall is a flowering vine and she leaves him to pull a flower from it, which she places carefully in the pot he's already holding.]

The leaves and petals from this will help you sleep. I'll get some cuttings from the vine and help you get it growing on your ship, but this should be enough for now.

[He is... holding too much stuff. Delicately, he sets everything down, so that he can gently put his hands on her upper arms.]

You. You, as a person, are... astounding. Kind, and brave. And a lot of other good things you'd not want me to say aloud for fear of putting you on a pedestal.

[The truth is he puts her on a pedestal even without saying all those things he's not putting words to now, she can see it in the way he looks at her, even in the careful way he touches her. Every time it's like he's afraid she'll break, but the sheer force of the affection he puts behind it keeps her from being able to even consider being frustrated by it.]

I'm not really made for pedestals, so that's likely a good move. Thank you, though. It's sweet of you to say all that.
