[The Cassandra that Jove had come to know, to appreciate and care for like a sister, that Cassandra is the type of woman that doesn't care for wasting time beating around the bush. She likes to get to the point of things, to address them head on and get it over with. At first it had been slightly terrifying to be on the wrong end of, but by now Jove understands it's just a the way Cassandra is. Efficient, because why be anything else?

So when Cassandra knocks, Jove answers the door and waves her inside. She doesn't offer wine, though there is some sitting out and poured into two glasses already should Cassandra want some. She doesn't even bother with a greeting beyond a nod of her head and a quick, warm smile.]

What's happened?

Where do I even begin?

[Cassandra says as she steps inside. She doesn't sit either. She's far too wound up, too tense to be still like that. It's almost a small wonder that Cassandra doesn't start pacing actually, but only just so as she turns to face Jove once she's inside.]

Two of my crewmembers attempted to bring one of those bugs onto our ship alive to experiment on. Fortunately it was not intent on going quietly. Syeira and I were able to stop them from even making it to the lab, but Zhas and Coil were somehow surprised that anyone would not simply allow them to torture a living creature like that.

[She scoffs derisively. She's well-aware of how self-righteous she is and it only takes approximately five seconds of speaking with Cassandra to know where her morals lie. Even if they couldn't have predicted Syeira's reaction--which seems absurd given what she knows of the woman--they should have definitely known that Cassandra would not have allowed it.]

They had the audacity to make excuses, claiming that they would be able to find ways of preventing the spread of this species and this would be their only means or chance. [Cassandra shakes her head.] I knew there was something not quite right with Coil, but that Zhas would not only allow this to happen, but aid him?

[She is beyond disgusted right now.]

[Jove does sit, settling on the bed to give Cassandra extra room just in case she does decide to pace. She knows better than to stand in the way once Cassandra gets going.

And she's been having her own issues with the whole bug problem, misunderstandings that she isn't entirely sure how to clear up, but this? Torture? It's a bit of a shock to thing there are people in their collection of ships that would stoop to that level.]

I don't suppose you were able to convince them that what they had planned was reprehensible. Do you think they'll try again?

Oh, I've no doubt they will try again. If not with these creatures, then some other sooner or later. [Nunnally said she wouldn't allow for it to happen, but Cassandra doesn't think it's very likely that either Zhas or Coil will respect her decisions enough not to make another attempt. It would be naive to think otherwise.] But they will be more secretive about it this time and certainly will not try it on the ship.

If you're worried about them, you could let the captains of the other ships know to keep an eye out for them should they try to bring their work to another ship.

[That does leave them the bug ship to work on, but how much can really be done there? All the equipment they need will be on the Atroma ships, and if all the captains know to keep Zhas and Coil out...]

I believe it is my captain's desire to keep this self-contained.

[Which is something Cassandra is naturally wrestling with. For much of her life, even as she's gone after the things that she wants, she has followed. It's more comfortable for her that way, and besides, Nunnally is not the most incompetent person she could possibly be following.]

[But Cassandra has gotten into the habit of questioning as well. She doesn't accept everything as it's handed to her.]
