Triggers/Fears/Squicks: The only absolute no I have is gross things happening to teeth, but other than that I'm good.

Character Motivation: Jove is already trying to save the world, so this is really just an extra step in that direction. The methods aren't exactly great, but she's not concerned about what she'll need to do to see that happen.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE

Name: Inquisitor Jove Lavellan
Age: 22
Physical Appearance: here
Point in Timeline: post Temple of Mythal
World Description: Thedas
History/Background: As the First in a Dalish clan, Jove was trained by her Keeper to one day take over as their leader. Primarily the Lavellan clan traveled around the Free Marches, never settling long in one place to avoid interference by the human lords who lived in the area and never having too much contact with them. Life in the clan was simple, with much of the time spent traveling through forests and plains. With plenty of hunters and craftsmen, life was comfortable as well. It would have been a place Jove could be happy in for the rest of her life.

However, Keeper Deshanna caught wind of the meeting of mages and templars and saw that whatever happened there would likely change everything about the current state of Thedas, especially for elves, and sent Jove to spy on the conclave. Jove went willingly and eagerly, wanting to learn more about humans and their war, but then everything exploded and the only survivor was, of course, Jove.

The rest of the plot of the game can be found summed up quite well here.

Noteworthy Positive Characteristics:

Loyal: It does take her a little while thanks to starting things off with the Inquisition in chains and being forced to perform for them or literally die, but once Jove has accepted her place with the Inquisition and especially after the battle of Haven where so many lives are lost and the company starts to really look to her for hope, she begins to devote her livelihood to seeing her new mission through. She accepts the mantle of Inquisitor out of a real desire to help and keep innocent people from dying.

Kind: Although she can be ruthless, once you're on her good side Jove is the best kind of friend you could ask for. She'll put Inquisition power and resources to work to find your lost friends, help you find something or someone you thought lost forever, and she won't even think twice. She'll put herself at great risk to help and support her friends and it's something she'll do without even having to be asked in most cases. The depth of her love can run deep for the right people and while it may take some doing to get there, once you are you are for life.

Eager to learn: As a whole Dalish elves are often seen as a people who refuse to look forward, who will stick to dying traditions no matter what, will cling to a language many have forgotten entirely, but clan Lavellan stands apart by being curious about the humans in the world. By taking an interest in the war between mages and templars and sending Jove herself out to learn more, they take an active part in their story rather than keeping to the forests and letting things outside them go on as they will.

Cut off from her clan and being exposed to new ways of thinking, it's opening up a whole new world for Jove. She's eager to listen to the points of view of those who present them without insisting their way is the only way, who will explain different sides to things in a respectful way. She's eager to learn more about the true ways the elves of the past lived, ready to listen to Tevinter history or the makeup of a Qunari population and growing more and more curious about this Andraste everyone keeps talking about. She'll always follow the ways of the Dalish, but it's impossible to ignore a hunger for learning, and she makes no effort to hold herself back from knowledge.

Noteworthy Negative Characteristics:

Evasive: Throughout her time with her friends, Jove keeps many of her own trials and feelings to herself. There's a large part of her that fears and doubts her ability to withstand the final battle with Corypheus and the ability to live through the Anchor sucking the life out of her, but she refuses to let that show. She finds ways to flirt or joke to deflect worry from her own wellbeing, sometimes outright lying about being fine because she doesn't want her friends, her advisors, or her armies and agents to see anything other than a leader they can trust to get the job done. In some ways it leads to her closing herself off, refusing to commit to a romantic relationship to any of her companions while still flirting terribly with them, because it would be better to never hurt them when she inevitably dies.

She's ready to die, knows that she probably will, and so she holds herself apart to lessen the blow.

Dalish or Bust: Jove is very devoted to her clan. She believes in the Elven gods and follows their teachings, wants to find ways to recover their lost civilizations and knowledge. She wants to preserve what they have left, and while she does see the worth in looking to the future while doing it, in learning from the things her people have gotten wrong, she doesn't want to throw everything away in order to start over. She believes in the ancient traditions and lives by them over everything else.

There's also something bitter to her about the way humans perceive her to be sent by a human god, and it's something she never stops denying. She doesn't want to be some pillar of hope for humans she doesn't even know, but she is and nothing she says or does seems to ever cause any change. Over and over again she reminds people she's a Dalish elf, she doesn't believe in Andraste or the Maker, so why would she believe she was chosen by something she puts no faith in? It gets on her nerves that no one ever listens to her insisting she follows the Elven ways, and so there are times when she can bite back with insults or denials that may go too far.

Solves problems with violence: Multiple times, the opportunity arises for the Inquisitor to solve a problem or levy a judgement how they see fit, and more often than not Jove sees fit to act in the way that will send the greatest message. Let Red Templars take your townspeople to turn them into red lyrium? She'll make you work side by side with those same people you betrayed to rebuild that town. If they kill you for revenge then hey, that's your problem. Enslave a spirit that's friends with one of her companions, resulting in its death? Yeah, she'll let him kill you.

Thedas is a ruthless place and Elves learned a long time ago not to let humans walk over them, that any chance anyone gets to hurt an elf they will take it, and so it's lead to her being the sort of person who will lash out first to lessen the blow she or her friends will take. She has no problem killing a few to save many, especially when it's for the greater good.

Character Fears: After spending so much time away from her clan, Jove fears intensely that by the time she can go back, they won't want her back. She'll have spent too much time among the humans and forgotten the Dalish ways, or become too famous to reintegrate safely with her people. Skyhold has become a second home, but out of a necessity that she's certain is because her clan will never take her back now.

Beyond that, she's come to care almost too much for her friends. Anyone in the Inquisition being threatened is now a great fear, and losing them is absolutely on that list too.

Powers/Abilities:

Knight-Enchanter - most of Jove's ability points have been sunk into her specialization tree, taking each skill and upgrade available. The rest have been scattered among the other trees.
Storm - a primary focus, most often using Chain Lightning on groups of enemies and Static Cage to start a fight and keep enemies clustered in one spot.
Primal - the first abilities in each are used occasionally, with an emphasis on Barrier to protect her party.

Most importantly, Jove has the ability to create and close rifts in the Veil. Primarily she closes them or interacts with them to damage demons in the area, but in extreme cases can open one to allow herself and others to pass through. This is not a thing she particularly wants to do again because living people aren't meant to be in the Fade. Since this falls into the whole manipulating space and time category, I'm fine with nerfing it to only closing rifts should there ever be any. For all intents and purposes it's just a handy flashlight now. Any other nerfs that are deemed necessary I'm totally fine with.

Personal Item: As the First to the Keeper of her clan, Jove was gifted with a ring to represent the place she would one day (hopefully) take in her clan. A ring like it makes an appearance in Dragon Age 2. Notable is the depiction of a story about Fen'Harel carved on it.
