This will be her canon point, jumping through the Eluvian to escape Corypheus. In terms of companions, I'll be playing as if no romance was chosen to make things as open as possible for any future castmates. Jove was in good standing with all her companions and finished each Inner Circle quest positively, but again if other castmates would like to go a different way with that I'll adapt to their choices.

Species: Elf

History: As the First in a Dalish clan, Jove was trained by her Keeper to one day take over as their leader. Primarily the Lavellan clan traveled around the Free Marches, never settling long in one place to avoid interference by the human lords who lived in the area and never having too much contact with them. Life in the clan was simple, with much of the time spent traveling through forests and plains. With plenty of hunters and craftsmen, life was comfortable as well. It would have been a place Jove could be happy in for the rest of her life.

However, Keeper Deshanna caught wind of the meeting of mages and templars and saw that whatever happened there would likely change everything about the current state of Thedas, especially for elves, and sent Jove to spy on the conclave. Jove went willingly and eagerly, wanting to learn more about humans and their war, but then everything exploded and the only survivor was, of course, Jove.

The rest of the plot of the game can be found summed up quite well here.

Personality: In the beginning, Jove is very not interested in the role she's been forced into. Chained and forced to follow the orders of some humans or die resisting them? It isn't the best way to form relationships. But still, she cooperates in the interest of saving the world, less interested in the religious aspects of what she's being forced into and instead focusing on the very simple fact that if she doesn't, innocent people will die.

She doesn't want to be some pillar of hope for humans she doesn't even know, but she is and nothing she says or does seems to ever cause any change. Over and over again she reminds people she's a Dalish elf, she doesn't believe in Andraste or the Maker, so why would she believe she was chosen by something she puts no faith in?

As time goes, however, she cheats death over and over and there's no denying that someone helped her out of the Fade and seems to be bent on her living to defeat Corypheus. The Inquisition is a good fit for her once she puts aside the attempts to hold herself apart from them. Maybe there is something to the Herald of Andraste thing. Maybe she is meant to lead these people.

The Inquisition's faith in her, a Dalish elf mage, is what really causes Jove to grow into the role of Inquisitor and flourish. With the support of her advisors and her friends she builds a strong army that trusts her with their lives, solves problems all across Thedas, and even works to broker peace between countries that have feuded since long before she was born. She works to fix smaller problems too, however. Kindness sees her taking it upon herself to take flowers to a grave, to gather bear pelts for a dalish clan. She does these things because they're the right thing to do, always guided by a strong sense of justice.

But she can be harsh when it's needed. Part of her job is to judge people who have committed crimes against the Inquisition or the country, and while she does handle some lighter problems with good humor (exiling men who throw goats at her castle to Tevinter fully armed, for example) she doesn't hesitate to impose heavy sentences on those who deserve them. Let Red Templars take your townspeople to turn them into red lyrium? She'll make you work side by side with those same people you betrayed to rebuild that town. If they kill you for revenge then hey, that's your problem. Enslave a spirit that's friends with one of her companions, resulting in its death? Yeah, she'll let him kill you.

As the Inquisitor, she makes difficult decisions and doesn't let herself doubt them. She gets the job done because no one else can, but as a woman she's a very different person. As a woman she tells jokes and stories about her clan, she's open and caring with her friends and does everything she can, uses every resource of the Inquisition to help them. She doesn't think twice about sending scouts to find long lost friends of spirits or diplomats. Desperately want the next chapter in a romance novel? Hey, she'll work on that and be sure the author follows through. Morrigan has a son, so letting her drink from something called the Well of Sorrows is just out of the question. Jove does it without hesitation, because of course she does. It's the right thing to do.

She's also incredibly eager to learn more about the world and perfectly willing to reconsider things she had believed before if good enough evidence is given. Living cut off from the world with her clan, it's only natural there's plenty of stuff she hasn't been exposed to yet. That being said, she is very devoted to her clan. She believes in the Elven gods and follows their teachings, wants to find ways to recover their lost civilizations and knowledge. She wants to preserve what they have left, but does see the worth in looking to the future while doing it. Nothing can be gained by only looking back, but it doesn't mean she'll abandon her people to do it.

Abilities:

  • Knight-Enchanter - most of Jove's ability points have been sunk into her specialization tree, taking each skill and upgrade available. The rest have been scattered among the other trees.
  • Storm - a primary focus, most often using Chain Lightning on groups of enemies and Static Cage to start a fight and keep enemies clustered in one spot.
  • Primal - the first abilities in each are used occasionally, with an emphasis on Barrier to protect her party.

Most importantly, Jove has the ability to create and close rifts in the Veil. Primarily she closes them or interacts with them to damage demons in the area, but in extreme cases can open one to allow herself and others to pass through. This is not a thing she particularly wants to do again because living people aren't meant to be in the Fade. Since this falls into the whole manipulating space and time category, I'm fine with nerfing it to only closing rifts should there ever be any. For all intents and purposes it's just a handy flashlight now.

Augment Skillset: Engineering or Lab Support, but I'm flexible if other skillsets are needed more.
Sample: right here! I should point out this is just a psl and no shipping is expected from any Cullens who may show up in the future.
